INDIA'S UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM
INDIA'S UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM
There has never been an election in India where unemployment isn't one of the core issues.According to the survey of NSSO (National Sample Survey Office) present unemployment rate is 23.5℅ and the worst is yet to come. Before the pandemic COVID - 19 the rate stands at 8.6%.Jobless people spends their entire day using low cost mobile data is not a pretty sight for any country, let alone for a nation aspiring for an accelerated growth. For instance, in March 2018,the Indian Railways carried out a recruitment drive for 90,000 jobs for multiple posts and about 2.8 crore aspirants applied for that. This shows that how much India is suffering from the unemployment problem.
The condition becoming worst day by day because of the pandemic, COVID 19.The economy of almost every country in the world falling day by day.The Indian economy expanded 3.1 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2020, beating market forecasts of a 2.1 percent rise. Still, it is the slowest GDP growth since quarterly data become available in 2004, as the country imposed a nationwide lockdown from March 24th aiming to contain the spread of the corona virus. Manufacturing went down 1.4 percent, the third straight quarter of contraction and construction declined 2.2 percent. A slowdown was also seen in financial, real estate and professional services and in trade, hotels and transport.Due to this over 122 million people in India lost their jobs in April, according to estimates from Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy. Around 75% of them were small traders and wage-labourers.
The government is taking various steps like terming the Rs 20 lakh crore package a "major step" in making the country 'Atamnirbhar' (self-reliant), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will set an example of economic revival to the world which is currently fighting the menace of corona virus. The package for Atamnirbhar Bharat Abhiyan would usher in a new era of opportunities for every Indian, be it farmers, workers, small entrepreneurs or youth associated with startups. The India's dream to achieve 5 trillion economy is becoming never easier than before.
Some people believe that direct cash transfers to the account of unemployed people could solve the problem but this is very difficult because of large population and unemployment in India. We should generate jobs instead of giving them unemployment pension because this leads towards an overload on economy.
Our team (The unstoppable) done a wide research on this and try to find some solutions to solve this problem:

- High entry level government salaries hurting the country : About 88℅ of the government's total expenditure went to revenue expenditure which included salaries, pensions and other non asset creation expenditures, highlighting how government salaries are hurting the economy in the long run.
- Their should be equal wages for equal work in the government and private sectors.e.g An entry level clerk gets salary of Rs.18000 in government departments while an entry level clerk gets salary of Rs 8000-10000 in private organization.
- The private job must be secured like government jobs e.g Many people in private sector lost their jobs but no one in government sector lost his job.
- The main motto of the people is to get government job because of High pay level and security of the job.If everyone wants to seek government job, it is impossible for the government to provide it to everyone.
- People have to choose their careers in other fields too instead of trying to seek a government job.Government should bring reform in other sectors also like by providing mechanisation in farming instead of using old equipments and methods. This will lead the people towards agriculture.
- The government should provide skills to the people because the manufacturing sector in India was suffering due to lack of skilled labour. This will create more jobs and output of the manufacturing sector must increase.
- The taxes on manufacturing sector should be decrease and this will lead towards investment and increase job creation.
- The tertiary sector should be promoted and that will give birth to the young Entrepreneurs that will achieve the status of young leaders in the country on the back of their success e.g. Companies such as Flipkart, OYO, Paytm etc providing jobs to various people in metro cities.
- The vocational training programmes being run in the country will help to fulfill the talent needs of the nation.
- By bringing Advanced technology in IT and IT - enabled services.
