Bhaderwah valley is a beautiful town of district Doda of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is located in the foothills of Himalayan mountain.Its old name was Bhaderkashi.It is preached at an altitude of 1613 meters from the sea level.
For its scenic beauty and natural vegetation the poets called it 'Switzerland of India'.The town was surrounded by green flora and it gives a very pleasent look to it's beauty.
Bhaderwah is a cultural epicenter. Dhakku(folk dance) and Ghurai(Folk songs) which is religious in inspiration and characteristically devotional in nature. Dhakku is a kind of folk dance which is performed on a special music called 'Dhouns' played by special musicians called 'Bajantaris'. While Ghurai are a kind of folk songs singed by a group of womens on special occasions like marriages, festivals etc. This place has also its native language 'Bhaderwahi'(spoken language) which was the language of about 50'000 people of Bhaderwah.
Bhaderwah is famous for its various unique festivals like Kailash Yatra, Mela Patt, Jalta, Kodh, Kanchoth etc. The town was full of temples like Vasuki Nag temple, Chandi Mata Temple,Guptganga Temple, Subaar Nag Temple, Nagni Mata Temple, Lakshmi Naryan Temple, Bount Nag Temple, BhaderKaali Mata Temple etc. For this reason Bhaderwah called 'Deva Bhoomi' which means 'the land of gods'.
The famous Jamia Masjid were also present in the town.
Bhaderwah is also famous for its food. It includes the famous Bhaderwahi Rajma(beans), Tomul(Rice), Karam(Spinach), Chatloi, Kundi, Kasror etc. The valley of Bhaderwah is full of natural water bodies called Naag(Springs) and Baain(Wells). The main occupation of the people was agriculture. The people of various religions and castes live together with unity, prosperity and brotherhood.
If you visit India or from India you must visit Bhaderwah once because Bhaderwah is an ideal place for tourists which also includes camping and mountaineering. The people of Bhaderwah are very humble and provide good hospitality to the tourists. You would find various hotels, lodges etc here according to your needs. Many tourist places like Jai, Padri, Chinta Valley, Telligarh, Thanthera, Khellani Top, Soej Meadow, Tibba, Bhal Padri, Himman, Khanitop etc are waiting for you. Let's come to the lap of nature.
HOW TO VISIT BHADERWAH
Firstly you have to reach Jammu (various transportation modes are present)After that Bhaderwah can be easily accessed via road from Jammu and can be ready via below route:
☮Jammu to Udhampur - 65KM NH1A
☮Udhampur to Batote - 55KM NH1A
☮Batote to Pul Doda - 50KM NH1B
☮Pul Doda to Bhaderwah - 30KM
It will around take 6-7 hrs from Jammu as roads were nicely maintained by Border Roads Organization.
