Bharmour was one of the ancient town lies in the Chamba district of Himachal Pardesh, India. It is situated at the altitude of 7000 ft in the Budhil Valley. Its old name was Brahmpura. It is also called 'Shiva Bhoomi' which means 'The land of Lord Shiva'.
It lies between the Pir Panjal and the Dhauladhar range between Ravi and Chenab valley. This land is blessed with deep beauty of nature and also provides home for nomadic shepherds called Gaddi. For this reason, Bharmour is also called a Gadderan (Living place of shepherds).
Chaurasi Temples is located in the center of Bharmour town and it holds a religion importance because people believe that these temples was build by Lord Shiva in one night in the 7th century. Chaurasi is the hindi word for eighty four(84). There are total 84 big and small temples in the temple complex.
The remarkable feature of the Bharmour which requires mention is the temple of Bharmani Mata which can be reached by climbing a steep path of almost 4 Km on foot. Road was also available having distance approximately 8Km but most of the people prefer steep path as shortcut way to reach Bharmani Mata Temple. It is considered auspicious to take a dip in the holy pond of the temple filled with cold water.
The place 'Bharmour' is base for the famed 'Manimahesh Yatra'.The Manimahesh Lake is situated 26Km from Bharmour. Millions of piligrims from various parts of India visits Mainmahesh lake during Manimahesh Yatra.The yatra which comes from Bhaderwah, Jammu and Kashmir had a great importance for the people of Bharmour. The Manimahesh is considered as a pious religion place where every wishes of the piligrims became fulfilled.
Mount Kailash (Manimahesh Peak) is considered as invincible. No one has been so far able to scale this peak. For Mountaineers, this is a mysterious place.
Bharmour is famous for its various cultural activities also. The main festival is the time period of Manimahesh Yatra when they celebrate their Jatras. This starts every year in the 8th day of the light half of the moon in the month of Bhadon(July-August). Local festivals like Chaitol and Bishu were also celebrated with joy and enthusiasm.This consists of folk songs, dances and folklores and these are accompanied by various musical instruments. Their love for folk music is evident from their keen interest in folk music which is different from that of other regions. Folk songs of Gaddis can be categorised as marriage songs, festivity songs, love songs etc. People of the Bharmour speaks Gaddi Language (spoken language). Curry-Chawal(Rice) is one of the favorite food of the people of Bharmour.

How to visit Bharmour
By Air-The Kangra Airport or Dharamsala Airport is the closest Airbase to Bharmour which is located 180km from the town. It is well connected to places like Delhi, Varanasi, Gwalior etc.
By Rail-Pathankot Railway Station and Chakki Bank Railway Station are the two closest railheads, that are situated at a distance of about 180 km from the town. These stations have trains coming from neighbouring places like Jammu, Bhatinda, Delhi etc.
By Road-Bharmour is well connected to the cities of Himachal Pardesh like Chamba, Dalhousie etc.
