HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA
HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA
Higher education is one area which plays a vital role in shaping the future of the youth for whom it is the last phase before starting on their career plans. India's higher education network is the third largest in the world poised to overtake the United States of America and China within a decade.India is doing good in the sector of Higher education from few years.
India has more than half of its population below the age of 25 and almost one third of its population below the age of 35.India's future development and growth are totally based on youth power. It depends on India that how he use the power of the youth in a right way by providing them opportunities and educate them.
India is a developing country and full of talented youth.India is the single largest producer of talent in the world as one out of every four graduates is the product of Indian education system. It ranks among top 5 whose research output is cited globally. As of February 2017, there are 789 universities, 37,204 colleges and 11,443 stand-alone institutions in India, as per the latest statistics from the University Grants Commission website.
The biggest challenge was expanding the capacity of higher education. As India bears population of 135.26 crores and the number of colleges and universities are not sufficient. Also none of our top education Institutions, IIT Bombay being the sole exception, has been able to retain its ranking in Asia. Only 1.7℅ institutions run Ph.D programmes where almost 35℅ colleges have Post-Graduate Degree Programmes and Gross enrolment ratio is only 26℅.
Changes need be brought in the field of Higher Education in India. There are some ways which can bring the change and play vital role in the development of Higher education:
- By Setting up new colleges and universities.
- By increasing education budget.
- By upgrading our resources with world standards.
- By giving equal priority to Government and Private institutions.
- By giving good career opportunities to youth in more fields like journalism, tourism, hotel management etc.
- By using technology in teaching and learning processes.
- By providing digital learning solutions for the students.
